Dear AIS parents and staff:
Today emergency vehicles were on the Altus Intermediate School campus to assist with a medical emergency. A student was choking on a water bottle cap. The teacher used the school emergency alert app to notify administrators and local emergency personnel. Another teacher began the Heimlich maneuver. Thankfully the student was assisted and no injury occurred.
There is nothing more important to Altus Public Schools than the safety of our students and staff members. We want to thank emergency responders who urgently assisted following the alert. We are also proud of our students who demonstrated patience, cooperation, and understanding during today’s event.
